Chucho E. Quintero was born in Río Blanco, Veracruz, Mexico in 1989. He has studied with teachers such as Paula Markovitch and Jorge Ayala Blanco. In 2011, he won the IMJUVE Award for Best Young Director for his short film Félix et le poisson (2011) at the 15th Mix Mexico Film Festival. His film Alex & Diego (2014) won the Jury Prize for Best Feature at the 17th Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival in 2015 and was later screened in over 15 international film festivals. In 2019, he won the 18th National Screenwriting Competition at the 22nd Guanajuato International Film Festival with his short script, "April Showers." His latest feature, Les jours heureux (2019), was selected as the opening film for the 21st Thessaloniki International LGBTIQ Film Festival in Greece in 2019, and has been screened in the US, the UK, Turkey, Guatemala, Ecuador, Australia and India, among others. His next feature, Kitty, written by Brandon Deyette and produced by Gabrielle Pickle, is currently in development, and it's expected to be shot in Atlanta, GA in 2021.
