Carlos Armella was born on Mar 28, 1978 in Mexico. Carlos Armella's big-screen debut came with The Second Bakery Attack directed by Carlos Cuarón in 2010.

Born in Mexico City, Carlos studied at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) and The London Film School, in England. His short film "Tierra y Pan" (2008) won over 15 international awards, including the Golden Lion of the Venice International Film Festival.Carlos has directed several series for Netflix: "Club de Cuervos" (2015-16), as well as the documentary mini series "Cuando Conocí Al Chapo" (2017), and more recently "Rebelde" (2022).In the documentary field, he co directed the features "Toro Negro" (2005), presented at San Sebastian Film Festival, La Habana, Morelia, among other international film festivals, followed by "Common Ground" (2006) and "Nahui Ollin: Sol en Movimiento" (2017) collective work on the effects of global warning in Mexico, and more recently "Banda" (2019) presented at the Guadalajara Film Festival. He also directed multiple TV documentaries such as "Oro: El Día que Todo Cambió" (2013) and "Vida y Obra de Octavio Paz" (2014).His first feature film "En La Estancia" (2014), was presented at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, and was awarded in Mexico, Brasil, Argentina, Italia and United States. His second feature film ¡Ánimo Juventud! (2020), was part of L'Atelier de Cinéfondation of the Cannes Films Festival and the Torino Film Lab. It was presented at Morelia International Film Festival, Busan Youth and Kids, Ibero American film festival of Miami, and Festival Reflets du Cinema Iberique et Latino Americain where it was awarded with the Audience award, among others. "¡Ánimo Juventud!" was released in 2021 and is currently distributed by HBO in the United States and Piano Distribution in Mexico.His third feature film "La Suerte de Juan" is co produced with French production company Tita Productions and will be filmed in 2022.
