Billy Ray Brewton is a Los Angeles-based writer/director of stage and screen. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Until late-2013, Billy Ray had called Birmingham, Alabama home since 2002, where he founded the cutting-edge theatre company, Theatre Downtown, in 2006. At Theatre Downtown, Billy Ray wrote/directed/produced a number of original works, including: "The 13th Friday", "We Three Queens", "After School Special", "Skanks in a One Horse Town", "Dragula the Musical", "Must Come Down", "Country Roses the Musical" and "The Xmascist". Billy Ray's original musical, "Skanks in a One Horse Town", was the subject of the documentary, "Skanks", which made its world premiere at the 2014 Slamdance Film Festival.
