Ásgrímur Sverrisson was born on Jun 19, 1964 in Iceland. Ásgrímur Sverrisson's big-screen debut came with Villiljós directed by Ragnar Bragason in 2001.

Having made several award winning shorts as a teenager, Asgrimur Sverrisson went on to study film directing at UK's National Film and Television School, graduating in 1994. He has since directed commercials, music videos, documentaries, and fiction films for the cinema and television.From 1995 to 2008 Asgrimur was the founding editor of Land & synir (www.logs.is), a magazine and website on the Icelandic filmmaking scene. He was also the founding manager of the Edda Awards, The Icelandic Film and Television Awards and was a member of the board of the Icelandic Film and Television Academy from 2002-2008. In 2010 Asgrimur was one of the founders of Bio Paradis, Reykjavik's first arthouse cinema, and served as its Programme Director until 2013.For the past twenty years he has frequently appeared on television, radio, in newspapers, magazines and online as film commentator and critic.He's now the Editor of film industry website Klapptre (www.klapptre.is) teaches film history regularly at The Icelandic Film School and appears frequently as moderator and lecturer at film festivals in Iceland and abroad.
