Antonio Zurera
Antonio Zurera was born on Mar 11, 1957 in Spain. Antonio Zurera's big-screen debut came with Katy Caterpillar directed by José Luis Moro in 1984. Antonio Zurera is known for Asterix in Britain directed by Pino Van Lamsweerde, Roger Carel stars as Astérix and Pierre Tornade as Obélix. He began his professional career in Madrid in 1979, collaborating on several series for Hanna-Barbera. During that same year, he joined the Cruz Delgado studios, remaining during the whole Don Quixote de la Mancha series for TVE. In 1981 he made the storyboard and layout for what would be his first experience in an animated feature: 'Katy Carterpillar', at the Moro Studios, where he also worked as a helper.In 1982 he created his own animation studio, Milime Cartoons, S.A., with his partner Ángel Izquierdo, developing different animation projects, mainly sports advertising.In 1984 he moved to Paris hired by Gaumont for the production of three 'Astérix' full-length films. In 1987 he returned to Madrid and rejoined Milmetros, SA, in charge of the department of creation, design and pre-production from which he directs the pre-production of different international projects: 'Asterix in America', 'The Pink Panther', 'Sonic', 'Madeline', 'Street Shark', 'Doug', 'All dogs go to heaven', 'Babar', 'Fantomcat', 'Pipi Longstocking', 'Sabina', etc.Between 1998 and 2000, he co-directed with Ángel Izquierdo the television series 'Os Vigilantes do Camiño', for RTVG. In 2002 he directed the process of visual development and character design for five feature films: 'Dic Entertainment, LP', 'Sabrina, Friends Forever', 'My Fair Madeline', 'Dennis the Menace, Cruise Control', 'The Lost World' and 'Zorro'.Its relationship with Cordoba strengthens from 1999 forwards, collaborating in the organization of the Cartoon Forum that year and participating as a trainer in various courses organized by the Provincial Council of Cordoba and the Andalusian Government and in University Extension Courses of the University of Cordoba.In addition, its involvement with the city and with the Andalusian animation industry is consolidated by the creation of the M5 Audiovisual Production Company from Córdoba, which he currently presides.He is also known for his work as director of the Animacor International Animation Festival.During all this time, Antonio Zurera has not abandoned his creator and screenwriter career and has been designing several animation projects, both feature films and TV series. Thus, in 2002 he wrote and produced the film 'Dragon Hill', directed by Ángel Izquierdo and that managed to sell more than 250 thousand DVD copies in Spain. Besides, it also reaped a great success in countries like Holland. 'Dragon Hill' was awarded by the Academy of Cinema with the Best Animated Film Goya Award in 2003. In 2006, Zurera writes the sequel to 'Dragon Hill' titled 'The magic cube'. Directed again by Ángel Izquierdo, and co-produced by the Cordoba Provincial Council (through the production company M-5 Audiovisual), she was nominated for the Best Animated Film Goya Award.Antonio Zurera has also taught several classes in the course "Audiovisual Animation" of the Carlos III University of Madrid.
