Anri Kulev graduated from State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow in 1975. He received a degree in Animation Graphics. In 1974/92, he worked at Boyana Animation Film Studio as director, artist and writer. He was a member of the international jury at Annecy, 1987. In 1992, he founded Koulev Film Production. Since 1993, he has been lecturing in Animation Directing and has been directing the Animation Program at New Bulgarian University, Sofia. He has directed six feature, thirteen documentaries and fifteen animation films. "Hypothesis "won the principal awards in Ottawa, Varna, Bulgaria. "Cavalcade" won the prizes in Krakow, Poland; Tolbuhin, Bulgaria; Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He has worked on TV shows and theatre productions. As an illustrator he has held a dozen of solo exhibitions.
