She attended the Viljandi Music School for Children and the Tallinn Secondary School of Music, where she studied piano and conducting. After graduating from the Secondary School of Music, she sang for four years in the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir under the conductor Tõnu Kaljuste. In 1994 she went to the Musical University in Vienna to study classical vocals under Professor Gerhard Kahry. (1997) She has performed as a mezzo-soprano soloist on various occasions in the Vienna Volksopera and the Vienna Staatsopera. She has performed in such operas as Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Rossini's La Cenerentola, Mozart's Don Giovanni and many others. Her performance in the Händel opera Orlando in February 2001 was especially popular. In addition to performing in opera houses, she also participated as a musical lead character in the award-winning film Les Lecons Ténébres - a joint production between the television channels France 3 and Arte.
