Alice L Walker was born in Evanston, IL. Her father, a pianist and painter introduced her to the ballet Swan Lake when she was four year old, and her path in the arts began. After years of study in both ballet and theater, Alice performed with several prominent ballet companies in Chicago and abroad before being cast as a dancer in Thomas Carter's film, Save The Last Dance. This experience, along with injuries preventing her from continuing with the rigors of company life, began her transition working in film and TV. She trained at Piven Theater Workshop in Chicago before studying under Robert Carnegie at Playhouse West, as well as acting coaches Larry Moss, Art Wolff and the late Peter Haskel. She won a Best Actress award for her portrayal of Annie in Riddance which also won Best Dramatic Short at PWFF, where the year before she was nominated for Best Actress for her role as Karen. Alice L Walker has authored several feature screenplays and children's stories. She also has been known to teach musical theater, having directed over 20 musicals. She is co-founder of Los Angeles based activist theater company, Thursday Night Theater Club which performs morality plays.
