Ali Aksoy was born on 21 November 1991 in Mersin. He grew up in the Ulas and Ayvagedigi towns of Mersin. His mother's name is Fazilet Aksoy, his father's name is Ahmet Aksoy. He has two more brothers. He completed his primary education in Capar Ayvagedigi Primary School. After completing his first year of high school education in Gozne Multi-Program High School, he moved to Nihal Erdem Commercial Vocational High School. He graduated from the Department of Computer Programming in 2009. After working in the field of Information Technologies for 7 years, he was interested in screenwriting. Thereupon, he received script writing courses from the director Erhan Tuncer in Istanbul Sinematek and acting training from Irem Altug. During this course the idea of having an academic career in cinema was born. In the 2016-2017 academic year, he started his undergraduate education at Cankiri Karatekin University Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Cinema and Television.He started cinema in 2017 as an assistant to documentary film director Doctor Lecturer Tunc Boran. His first film project is Tunc Boran's short film, Missing (2018). He worked as a scriptwriter, cinematographer, camera operator and film editor in school projects before his first film Walnut (2020). In the fall period of 2018-2019, Z (2019) had his first directing experience with his two friend in the short film. In the spring of 2018-2019, he worked as a cinematographer on Anormal (2019), a short film directed by Tunc Boran. In the same period, he wrote and directed his first short film, Walnut (2020).
