Born 1967 in Riga (Latvia), studied Film at the National Filmschool VGIK, Moscow. He worked as a film critics for the daily newspaper "Pravda". The son of an Ukrainian mother and Jewish-Russian father, he moved from Riga to America to LA to Poland, and at home he spoke 3 languages. In the 90s he immigrated to Poland and became assistant director of Baranowski, Kieslowski and Polanski.
